Into the Wild: Growth Through Art and the Making of “Jungle”

There is a kind of wildness in growth — unpredictable, tangled, and deeply alive. That wildness lives in my latest piece, “Jungle”, a layered dreamscape that emerged from a quiet moment, my finger, and an old iPad.

I’ve always believed that art doesn’t require expensive tools or perfect conditions. What it needs is intention, feeling, and the courage to explore. Each piece I create begins with a simple gesture — often painting with my finger directly onto a screen, almost like tracing thought into form. Once the raw expression is there, I enhance the image in Photoshop, deepening the colors, adding light, revealing hidden textures. It’s a process that mirrors growth itself: chaotic beginnings, careful tending, and moments of clarity that shine through.

“Jungle” was born from that place of inner overgrowth, where thoughts coil like vines, and clarity must be sought, not forced. It’s a visual meditation on the subconscious, and a reminder that growth isn’t always linear or clean. Sometimes it’s messy, overwhelming, even dark. But within that mess, there’s life. Energy. Potential.

As an artist, I build worlds: hidden, symbolic, and dreamlike, that invite the viewer inward. My goal is to offer more than just imagery; I want to create spaces for reflection, calm, and awareness. In a world that often feels overstimulated and disconnected, abstract art can serve as a kind of mirror, not of what we see, but of what we feel.

Why Abstract Art Affects the Mind

Abstract art engages the brain differently than representational imagery. When we look at something abstract, our mind starts to search for meaning, patterns, and connections. Not because we have to, but because we’re wired to. This act of interpretation activates imagination, memory, and emotion. It invites presence. For some, it offers escape; for others, it brings clarity.

Research even shows that viewing abstract art can reduce stress and stimulate areas of the brain linked to creativity and introspection. In a sense, it reconnects us with our inner worlds. Much like a jungle, mysterious but alive with truth.

Growth Through Creation

Creating “Jungle” reminded me that growth isn’t always about reaching forward. Sometimes it’s about reaching inward. About getting lost, and finding something unexpected. About trusting the wild, and letting it guide you somewhere new.

If this piece resonates with you, let it be a reminder that even in chaos, beauty grows. That even with the simplest of tools, we can make something that speaks. And that art, in any form, is a powerful path to healing, reflection, and becoming.

If “Jungle” speaks to something in you, know that it is one of many portals.
